Simon Scionka is a documentary filmmaker with over 20 years of experience, having filmed in 45 countries around the globe. Throughout his career, Simon has produced both long-form and short-form documentaries, earning numerous festival honors and awards for his work. His acclaimed films include Poverty, Inc., Be Relentless, The Gentle Bear-man of Emo, and the short documentaries The Wonder of Coffee and Mrs. Schneider.
Simon currently resides in Colorado with his wife, Ira, and their four children. He is also a subdeacon at Holy Theophany Orthodox Church.
I’ve traveled a lot over the years, and people often ask, “What is your favorite country you’ve visited?” Well, in many ways I have enjoyed them all, but I do have a few favorites – Russia (my second home), Ethiopia, Greece and Ireland currently top the list.
